Embedded World Conference: A Series of Successful Launches

Our President and CEO, Joel Jorgenson, reports on his experience taking Packet Digital to the Embedded World Conference:

In February, I had the opportunity to attend the 2013 Embedded World Conference in Nuremberg, Germany as part of Packet Digital’s new forged partnership with SMART Modular. The Embedded World Conference marked the introduction of the EcoMemory product family of memory modules.

EcoMemory modules replace standard JEDEC DDR modules for servers, notebooks, and embedded systems. With Packet Digital’s PowerSage® power management integrated circuits, or PMICs, EcoMemory offers improved performance and substantial power savings.

SMART Modular and Packet Digital had a very impressive set of demonstrations at our booth, showing power savings, temperature reductions, and an interactive calculation that showed how a data center could save over $2 million annually in electrical costs.

The conference surpassed every expectation I had and went past my wildest hopes. Potential customers were enthusiastic about EcoMemory’s capabilities and the impact the power savings and/or performance improvements could bring. The demonstrations worked flawlessly, and the SMART Modular sales force became well trained in showcasing the product. We all meshed extremely well, and the interactions strengthened a great business partnership.

Along with it being a successful conference for Packet Digital, it was also a valuable learning experience for my 17-year-old son, Adam. He was able to tag along and learn about the new advancements in electronics, see cutting edge companies and their new products, and be a part of a technical team demonstrating the EcoMemory line. He left the conference feeling fired up about engineering, technology, and his place in the future workforce.

From the vastly different perspectives of a business partnership, a new product line, and an ambitious teenager thinking about his future, Embedded World was a tremendous success. I believe in the old adage that “success brings about more success,” which means that all three avenues are well on their way for great things. I am just thankful that I had a front row view to see it all happen.
